Device and Testing Checklist Before You Publish

Why device checking matters

Validation against your source PDF confirms your EPUB matches your design — it doesn't confirm how that design actually reads across the wide range of screens your buyers will use.

The 17 real devices

The Device Preview tool models 17 real devices: 7 e-readers (Kindle Paperwhite, Colorsoft, Oasis, Scribe; Kobo Libra Colour, Clara Colour, Sage), 6 tablets (iPad Mini, Air, Pro; Fire HD 10), and 4 phones (iPhone 17 models).

Why standard EPUB reaches e-ink Kindles

Not every "fixed-layout Kindle book" reaches every Kindle device. Amazon's own Kindle Create tool produces a proprietary print-replica format restricted to Fire tablets and apps. MJ Convert Systems produces a standard EPUB 3 fixed-layout file, readable across e-ink Kindles, Fire tablets, and every other major retailer's reading apps.
