Metadata, ISBN, and Table of Contents

Book metadata: title, author, series, category

Every project has an editable metadata record — title, author, series, category, ISBN, and description — set from the project's detail page, stored separately from your source PDF's own internal metadata.

ISBN

The ISBN field is optional. If you provide one, it's used as-is in the EPUB's identifier metadata — it is not validated against any registry. MJ Convert Systems doesn't issue ISBNs; if you need one, you'll get it from your country's ISBN agency, or Amazon KDP can assign a free ASIN in its place.

Table of contents generation

By default, table of contents entries use page numbers rather than descriptive chapter titles — unless your source PDF has named bookmarks, in which case those bookmark names are used instead.

Exporting your metadata

The Preview & Validation page has a "Copy metadata" button and a "Download .txt" button, ready to paste directly into a retailer's upload form.
