Fonts in EPUB Conversion
Why fonts get mapped, not embedded 1:1
For Advanced Live Text and Reflowable EPUB modes, text content is mapped to a curated font stack instead of embedding your source PDF's exact font — this is what keeps the output KDP-safe and rendering reliably across every device. Visual Perfection mode is the exception: it rasterises each page as an image, so your exact font is preserved visually, just not as selectable text.
The Sovereign Six font stack
Five real embedded fonts — Arial, Open Sans, Montserrat, Georgia, and Times New Roman — plus an "Original" auto-detect option. By default, the engine counts which font appears most often in your PDF's text and maps it to the closest match: serif sources to Georgia or Times New Roman, sans-serif sources to Arial, Open Sans, or Montserrat.
Choosing a font per page
In the Live Text Editor, you can override the font for an individual page — useful when the auto-detected match doesn't fit, or different sections call for a different font.
